Ms. Songco from Seattle WA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need iPad minis with cases, headphones and a place to sit while working.

Our children are growing up in the age of technology. Unfortunately, my resource room does not have up to date computers for my students to use while learning reading, writing and math. We also need furniture to create a comfortable place for our students to work.
I teach 25 special education students in grades K-5 at an urban elementary school that has a strong, diverse community.
This school has 86% of students on free and reduced lunch, and our students speak more than 10 languages (35% are English Language Learners) which means we need materials that will make learning accessible to everyone. My students each come with a large variety of strengths and needs making a wide range of learning materials imperative. The use of technology not only aids their learning process, it also provides an opportunity to practice skills in a fun way.
My students will utilize the iPads throughout the day for all academic areas. Our school uses several computer programs that are accessible on iPads like ST Math, which allows students to practice their math skills in an interactive way. There are also applications that support their reading by allowing them to interact with the text or read the words to them, and writing applications they can use to take notes, use graphic organizers, and convert speech to text for them. Finally they will be used to show videos so that students may write about and evaluate social skills. It is important to me to encourage my students to read for pleasure as well as for classwork. I would like to create a space where they can read comfortably on their own. Having beanbags where students can get comfortable and read a book they enjoy will build their motivation and stamina for reading.
Your donation will assist my student's needs and deeply reinforce that they matter and that others care about them.
These materials will not only help me teach more effectively, but it will inspire my students to engage in positive social behavior as well as improve their skills in reading, writing, social skills, and math.
