My students, ranging from ninth to twelfth grade, are eager to read great books. Our students are truly special; for example, over 10% of the student body is actively involved in the school's book club. I feel very fortunate to work with students who are excited to read and discuss literature, even during their free time.
Without question, reading is an important part of many WHS students' lives, and I hope that this love of reading continues throughout adulthood.
I truly hope that the resources I provide in my classroom will continue to foster their love of reading.
My Project
Having a classroom library has had an extremely positive affect on my students. I hope to purchase this new list of books and have them accessible to all of my students in my classroom as soon as possible.
Students at our high school are given time daily to read because all ELA instructors understand the importance of having our students read books of their choice each and every day.
The lifelong benefit of having our students leave high school as active readers, who truly love books, will have a positive impact on our society. Students are far more likely to continue reading if they can find enjoyment in the books they read. Current titles are far more likely to be relatable to today's students.
