I'm currently teaching kindergarten in the same school district where I attended middle school. I'm beyond grateful to be serving the community that once served me, not only because I'm able to give back, but because I'm able to communicate with my students and their families in both English and Spanish. The majority of my students are bilingual (Spanish), others hail from homes where they speak Arabic, Portuguese, etc.
Many of my students come from diverse low income homes and they love learning about anything and everything under the sun.
They enjoy hands-on experiences, as it makes learning more fun and memorable. My goal is to give them as many meaningful experiences in the classroom as possible.
My Project
Some of my students do not have access to internet and technology at home so I'd like to give them the building blocks to that experience in kindergarten. By being able to have the students take assessments on tablets it will help me gather data on them and drive instruction. I have 34 students in my class so these tablets will allow me to assess half the class at a time. Aside from assessment the students can also use them to play educational games to support math and ELA in the classroom. We can also use the tablets to take pictures and document our learning.
