Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our 550 scholars, as we call them, come from all over Charleston County. They have made the choice to come to our school. Our school is one of the most diverse in our county. Around 50% of our population receives free or reduced-price lunch. Our scholars come ready and eager to learn with amazing ideas.

Our scholars come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds.

And they continue to push themselves to be the best they can be. They are our future generation.

My Project

Our scholars are embarking on a journey from South Carolina to Miami, FL via airplane to go shark tagging. They will be collecting real scientific data that will be used to learn more about sharks and help with conservation efforts of one of the most important animals in our oceans. Many of our scholars have never been on an airplane and we want to help make their travel easier by providing them a few travel accessories to make the process smooth.

We want to provide our scholars with TSA approved travel bags and a luggage tag to make sure they go through TSA checks and retrieving their luggage with no worries.

This opportunity is truly a once in a lifetime experience for many of our scholars and can open their worlds to possibilities they never could have imagined or experienced.
