Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students in elementary school have big emotions, often times being communicated to others through unhealthy behaviors. The items being requested will complete Calming Tool Boxes for students to use. Each tool/item will be added to a student's box to use in their calm down space once they have been taught how to use the skill.

These student crafted tool boxes will allow each individual to express their big emotions and release their energy using calming sensory, auditory and visual tools.

My goal for this project is to have students understand it's okay to have big emotions, but we need to express them in ways that will not cause harm to self, others or property.

Our students would benefit tremendously from these tool boxes, put them to use everyday in the classroom, and be able to transfer the skills and tools being taught to home life as well. The impact these tool boxes can make would be life changing. Students will be able to use these tools as preventative measures to cope and manage their feelings rather than expressinng through verbal and nonverbal behaviors that can have negative results.
