My Project

Do you know what makes my students so special? They are eager learners who show up each day ready to try their best. They come from committed families who often work long hours—sometimes two jobs just to make ends meet. With so much of the household budget going toward necessities, there is often very little left over for books at home. That is where our classroom library becomes a lifeline.

To support my struggling readers, I am requesting 30 copies of The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo and 30 copies of Because of Winn-Dixie by the same beloved author.

These books are solid, high-interest picks that will not only engage my students but also inspire a lifelong love of reading.

The Tale of Despereaux is the enchanting story of a tiny mouse with enormous courage who sets off on a daring adventure filled with danger, friendship, and hope. Because of Winn-Dixie introduces readers to a lovable stray dog who helps a lonely girl find friendship, connection, and joy in her new town. Both stories feature unforgettable animal characters that draw students in and keep them turning pages.

These books will give my students opportunities to read together, practice skills, and most importantly, feel the magic of being hooked on a book. Please help us bring these inspiring stories to our classroom!
