Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Working in an inner-city school district comes with its challenges. I have a unique group of 7th and 8th graders who have grown into a family away from home. A school within our district is closing its doors and their middle schoolers will be joining our school, doubling our population and bringing two communities together. I plan to use these games as a way to build a bridge the gap between “them and us.” I want to create a “We” environment. Identifying their social and emotional needs will be key in building our community in the middle of a school year.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
