Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Biology students are dedicated, hardworking, and committed to learning. Most of my students are recent immigrants to the United States. This means that in addition to their commitment to learning Biology, they must also commit to learning the English language.
I teach at a public, urban high school in Boston, Massachusetts where many of my students work full time to make ends meet for their families.
My students have no choice but to face the challenges in their lives. Because of this, I am committed to teaching my students that despite the challenges they may face, anything is possible with hard work, dedication, and support!
My Project
My students need 3Doodlers to express their higher order thinking in three dimensions. This will be especially helpful when we discuss molecular biology. 3Doodlers will offer a kinesthetic approach to learning about diffusion, cellular organelles, and proteins.
Contributing to this project will give my students opportunities to communicate their detailed ideas without language barriers.
Ten of my students recently learned how to use 3Doodlers at a Learning Lab hosted by Vertex. I have never seen my students so focused on detail. They were thrilled to show their 3Doodler products to their peers back at school. They are equally excited to be leaders in teaching other students how to use 3Doodlers in Biology class.
