Mr. Franklin from Smyrna GA is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a class set (30) of ukuleles to continue developing their musical skills and apply their music literacy skills through a tactile and kinesthetic approach.

I am a K-6 music teacher at a high poverty IB charter school with a great need for funding, resources, and supplies.
Everyday, I have the extreme pleasure of sharing the love of music with 600 of the brightest, funniest, and most dedicated music makers I've ever met.
Even through our school's challenges and hardships, they continually show up every day with big smiles and an eagerness to learn!
In our music classroom, we have had the best time exploring and performing music of all genres and styles, including classical, jazz, pop, musical theatre, soul, funk, R&B, hip-hop, and more. Music gives us the opportunity to engage in creative self-expression, while simultaneously learning about foreign languages, history, geography, mathematics, cultures and customs, and physics. Help us continue develop and share our love for music!
I am requesting a class set of ukueles to continue developing my students' musical skills and apply music literacy through a kinesthetic and tactile approach.
Through learning to play ukuleles, students can engage in a means of music-making that is engaging, current, and culturally relevant, while also enhancing their musical knowledge and understanding.
Additionally, students will be granted a performance opportunity, where they will accompany themselves on their ukuleles while simultaneously singing. The ukulele is perfect vehicle for gaining students' interest in contemporary music, and grants them another musical vehicle in which to express their talents and gain alternate performance experiences.
Many of my students come from families that are not in the financial position to invest in their musical education. These ukuleles will provide students musical opportunities that they may not have otherwise.
