This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Spanish Immersion school in the center of Charlotte, North Carolina. Students here are the most diverse and accepting population. They all have a passion for music, and love to share their musical talents and activities that are done outside of the classroom.

Our students consist mostly of children that are on free/reduced lunch, and come from Spanish speaking homes.

However, these students do not let their challenges interfere with their love of school. It is so encouraging as a teacher to know that I have helped encourage, inspire, and support their excitement for music.

My Project

The students at my school are becoming more involved and more developed in their musical abilities. They have become excited to participate in music related activities. I want to challenge my students and make them overall great musicians. My students are anxious to learn more instruments and to become the best students they can be.

A set of ukuleles will challenge my students to improve their musical abilities.

With little funding from the district, it is difficult to receive instruments in which the students can use independently. Ukuleles are great beginner instruments, and can encourage students to play more instruments in the future.
