Ms. Cunningham from Woodbridge VA is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students the gift of learning a new instrument that will increase their love for music and inspire them to continue music. Ukuleles are trending in music education, my students need to experience this.

I am working to give my students an unforgettable general music experience though more and newer resources. It is clear that my students enjoy music and are adjusting well to a new music teacher. The student are so diverse; they are patient, kind, open to these new experiences and ways of learning music.
I love seeing my students' faces when they are learning something new in music class.
It propels me to make lesson plans for weeks and weeks to come. These students greet me every day with such genuine smiles and big hugs. Every child in the school knows their music teacher Miss Cunningham. They make me feel special, and I would like them to know they are special, have a unique abilities, and a purpose.
Being in a Title I school, I am limited on resources. Many of our instruments are broken and in poor condition. The students love playing instruments, but we definitely need an instrument update. Our books are very outdated, but I do the best I can with what we have. The students enjoy music with me and what I offer to their elementary music experience.
I want my students to have something to look forward to when they come to my room. Many of the students are excited to come to music, but I feel I can offer them more. I do not want to make my students feel limited in their music success. They would love to come to music and see brand new instruments just for them. We have instruments that are broken and in poor condition. Upon my arrival to the school seeing this, I felt I did not have much to work with.
I want ukuleles to show them they can take care of an instrument and have aspiring musical goals.
I teach them the importance of taking care of instruments, and I use our instruments that are in poor shape as an example. They understand how fragile and delicate instruments can be. Ukuleles will be perfect for my older students and give younger students something to look forward to.
