Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school is desparate for some updated instruments. Most schools in my district have access to a full class set of ukuleles. My school currently has none. For the past two years, my students in grades 3-5 have been learning the recorder. Now they are ready for more!

Ukuleles are an important tool in the music classroom.

They are the perfect instrument for smaller hands. Ukuleles offer a feeling of success for students because they only require a couple of fingers for the basic chords. Having ukuleles in the music room means that students can learn about stringed instruments. They can also learn the concept of chords.

Not only can the general classroom students utilize these engaging instruments, but our music club can use them as well. The music club performs 2-4 times each year. Ukuleles would be the perfect instrument to add to our concerts!
