My awesome group of 2nd graders are creative, compassionate, and full of enthusiasm! They love hands-on, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! These kids come to school each day ready to learn, and try new things. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
They are fearless when it comes to technology, and as children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world.
The students in my classroom absolutely love learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best varies greatly. I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, alternative seating, and learning options to ensure that students' needs are met, right where they are!
I want to get a class set of wireless keyboards to use with our iPads, so students can learn and practice typing in the classroom. In 2nd grade, we take math tests online where students need to have basic keyboarding skills to be successful. I have seen 1st hand the frustration that goes along with taking the test, not because the students do not know the answers, but because they struggle with finding the appropriate keys to type their answers.
Typing is a skill that will benefit my students now and in the future, and I want to provide my students with every opportunity to be successful.
Not all of my students are exposed to computers and typing at home, so I want to give them access to technology to prepare them for the future. We all know technology isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so the sooner they learn, the better!
