Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of the students in my class have identified processing deficits which may make it very difficult for them to learn to read. All of my students may use technology to utilize a speech to text component to help them with writing. They may also use a text to speech component to read material out loud to them when logged into the school email account. I have many years of experience teaching diverse learners within the Chicago Public School system yet continue to get excited as my students learn to use their strengths to improve their reading and writing.
Our school serves low-income students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics, exceptional teachers and a safe learning environment.
We are working together to become exceptional remote learners while learning to navigate our digital devices. They are encouraged to become independent learners who are not afraid to make mistakes and are not afraid to ask for help when they need it. My students are working hard to stay engaged and complete their digital learning tasks.
My Project
The move to Remote Learning has been a learning experience for all involved in education! My students and I take one day at a time as we learn from each other about what works and what doesn't work. I have learned that I cannot monitor all the students and all of their needs with one computer, Chromebook or screen.
An additional monitor will allow me to keep an eye on all of my students while we are working together in out virtual meets.
I will be able to use the larger monitor to see my whole group or to keep an eye as I monitor their screens during remote sessions.
