My Students

For those of you who have played or knew someone who was a musician, you understand the significance of music in their life. I am at the music threshold of many of the children at my school. I teach the guitar, piano + drums. I also know the flute. I need 2 flutes to open this world to them!

Our students are part of a "free" Montessori Charter School.

Our school concept is much different than a traditional standardized school. It is child center and focuses on individual needs and motivational factors. Many students who just can't survive the boxed State standardized setting thrive in our school. I have a few in mind at this moment who were suffering greatly until it was music that "normalized" them and allowed them to be focused + centered for the first time in their lives. Since then, they have excelled in their academics and social life. "Children are Children" .... at the same time .... "Children are All Different" .. with needs, emotions, and desires. Our school is set to not neglect these differences and incorporate them into the child's school curriculum.

My Project

We are small, but have an excellent program to enrich many who do not do well in a standardized school setting and cannot afford a private school. I teach only musical instruments that I know well - Guitar, Piano, Drums. Through a child centered curriculum, they thrive in my class. We don't have an orchestra program, but I do know the flute. Several of them have expressed interest in the flute, the instrument is calling to them and I can actually teach it! We need two adequate flutes. I'm sure these two flutes can open new magical experiences for a few dozen children.

I'm calling to those of you who know what I'm talking about.

I understand that "money doesn't grow on trees". I will make a difference. I will make a bigger difference if you have the desire and understanding to help me share the world of "flute" with my students. Thank You for considering my little quest.
