This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of the things I love most about my students is their imagination and creativity. I was truly blessed this year with an amazing group of kiddos who genuinely love to read and get excited about stories. These class sets will allow us to dive into beloved classics together, sparking thoughtful discussions, creative projects, and deeper connections to the characters and themes. With each novel, students will strengthen their comprehension skills while using their imaginations to explore new worlds, ideas, and perspectives alongside their classmates.

My goal for this project is to strengthen students’ reading comprehension, critical thinking, and discussion skills through meaningful whole-class novel studies.

These classic stories will help students practice close reading, make text connections, and deepen their understanding of characters, themes, and author’s craft. By reading and discussing these novels together, students will grow as confident readers, collaborators, and thinkers while continuing to build a lifelong love of reading.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
