My Project

Third grade is a pivotal year in a child’s educational journey. It is the year students transition from learning to read to reading to learn, making it essential that they build confidence, independence, and a genuine love of reading. My goal is to create an engaging literacy environment where every child feels inspired to pick up a book, set goals, and grow as a reader.

This project will help transform our classroom into a welcoming reading sanctuary by providing high-interest books, bookshelves for organization and accessibility, comfortable seating options, and materials that empower students to take ownership of their learning.

While our classroom library includes many beloved books, there is a strong need for additional mid-level texts appropriate for third-grade readers. Students thrive when they have access to books that match their reading abilities while also sparking curiosity and excitement. Refreshing classroom libraries with engaging, relevant titles helps keep students motivated and encourages them to discover stories they love.

This project will also support student goal setting and academic growth through individualized reading data folders. Students will use folders and dividers to create personalized learning profiles where they can set goals, monitor progress, celebrate growth, and reflect on learning throughout the year.

Comfortable seating and organized storage will help create a calm, inviting class where students feel safe, focused, and excited to read. When children experience reading as enjoyable and meaningful, they are more likely to develop the confidence needed for success.
