Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We've got a group of amazing students eager to dive into chemistry. Many are learning English while exploring science, ready to tackle big questions like why wildfires are hard to stop or how geothermal energy works. But there's a catch—our classroom, stuck in the 1960s, lacks the gas valves and inlets for real Bunsen Burners, so we're trying to get creative with how we "turn up the heat" during hands-on chemistry experiments.
That's where our project comes in: we're looking to get 10 portable Bunsen burners.
These aren't just tools; they're keys to unlocking hands-on learning for our students. With these portable Bunsen burners, they'll get to see chemical reactions in action, making their learning experience more interactive and engaging such as when they do the classic food calorimetry lab and flame test lab.
Our goals are simple:
• Let students learn by doing, making science more fun and understandable.
•Spark curiosity about real-world problems and show how chemistry offers solutions.
• Make sure all our students, no matter their background, have the chance to become future scientists.
Our students' curiosity and dedication are inspiring. They deserve the chance to experiment and learn with the best resources we can provide. By adding portable Bunsen burners to our class, we're opening up a world of discovery. Let's light up their education with this project!
