Tune into Learning: A Musical Wish List for Kindergarten
Help me give my students materials to integrate music into the curriculum creating a rich, multi-sensory learning environment that supports various aspects of child development, ultimately leading to academic success.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am incredibly proud of my students and their dedication to learning and growth. They come to school each day eager to succeed, and despite the challenges many of them face, they show resilience, kindness, and determination. Our school is a diverse and vibrant community, with many English language learners and students from different backgrounds who bring unique strengths to our classrooms.
Music in the classroom promotes success by enhancing memory retention, supporting language development, and fostering social skills.
Engaging with songs and rhythms makes learning enjoyable, boosts cognitive and physical development, and encourages emotional expression. This dynamic approach creates a vibrant, motivating environment where children thrive academically and socially. The materials requested in this project will be added to the recent items I have obtained in an effort to increase music and movement in our classroom. Students will have an opportunity to use the speaker and the microphone in our music and movement activities in the classroom. The students love to move and sing as we learn our sight words to music. The instruments will be used in various ways. We will also use them to practice our reading skills by segmenting words and clapping syllables. The locking storage unit will be used to keep all of our newly obtained materials locked and secured so students can use them for the years to come!
