We need more bows for archery! We have a few that have suffered a bit of wear over the last three years. To have 2 additional bows in school colors would be such a gift!
This project expired on March 21, 2017.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
About My Students
My students are incredible. They are some of the most inspiring people I have ever met. They are kids that have had to work for everything they have earned and appreciate anything people are willing to help with. Many of my faculty have worked hard to coordinate opportunities for our students to deepen their education. It is really a gift to work where I do! They make the job fun! Even though they have had much to overcome, they tend to rise to any challenge set in front of them.
I am the archery coach at my school. Most of my students are not drawn to your "typical" athletics. Archery is one sport that we consistently get kids to come out for and commit to staying for. It has been my pleasure to serve as a coach in the first, second, and now third season of archery. We want new bows in school colors to replace some that have faced a little wear and tear from being shot hundreds upon hundreds of times. Not only will my extracurricular students get a lot out of it, so will the physical education classes!
I am so stoked that we have found an activity that works with my kids and helps build their confidence day in and day out!
In Their Own Words
Archery is an outlet to help be a lifelong activity that supports our mental, emotional, and physical health. Being in archery has taught me how to build relationships with younger students when we invite them to practice with us. I feel like younger students really admire the older kids we have on the team and it helps build connections. For them see that even with bows at hand, we are not scary high schoolers is really cool!
In class, I tend to be a bit shyer. I am an older student on the team and working with younger kids has taught me a lot about interacting with kids. It makes me feel more confident and I feel like a role model. I also benefited in practicing talking to kids and now that I am an aunt, I really value what I have learned.
It will mean a lot for a lot of students. It seems like many students would very much appreciate this project being funded. Not many of us like sports like football, basketball, and baseball. I know this program is growing because of word of mouth and because shooting bows and arrows are super cool! It would help the support that we have started.
