My students are very creative and artistically talented. Many of my Advanced Placement art students pursue careers in art. My students are 11th-12th graders in a major urban school system in Massachusetts. It is a Title I School. Many of my students are from low income homes. They are hard working. Many of them hold down jobs to help their families. Almost 70% of our students are Hispanic. The remainder are African American, Asian, White, and Native American. We service almost 1,400 students.
My Advance Placement Drawing Portfolio students spend many hours creating drawings for their portfolios. This is a year long class. While I provide time after school for my students to work, they are expected to continue working at home.
My students need a safe way to transport their work between home and school to prevent their artwork from becoming damaged.
The plastic drawing tubes are essential for them to make a smooth transition from drawing at school and home. Without the tubes, their artwork can rip or be exposed to the weather. Most of my students can not afford to purchase one of their own, so I will provide them one to borrow.
