My Project

In our 9th grade English 1 classroom, we're on a mission to make reading exciting, relevant, and unforgettable—and nothing captures our students’ attention quite like a good mystery. As part of our True Crime unit, we explore the ways storytelling, investigation, and human behavior intersect in both fiction and nonfiction. One of the most high-interest and beloved texts we aim to study is Agatha Christie's classic, Murder on the Orient Express.

Unfortunately, this novel is not provided by our school, and without a class set, many students will miss out on the opportunity to dive into this rich and suspenseful literary experience.

That’s where you come in.

Why this book? Murder on the Orient Express is more than just a mystery—it’s a masterclass in character development, plot structure, and critical thinking. Students analyze motives, piece together clues, and follow the brilliant mind of Hercule Poirot as he solves one of literature’s most iconic crimes.

It engages even the most reluctant readers with its fast pace, dramatic twists, and accessible yet sophisticated language.

It’s a perfect anchor text to help students compare fiction to real-life cases explored in our unit, making connections across genres and disciplines.

Your donation will help us purchase a complete class set of this novel, allowing every student to have a copy in hand—no waiting, no sharing, no falling behind. This access is essential for active reading, classroom discussions, group analysis, and independent reflection.

With your support, you're not just putting books in hands—you’re opening doors to higher-level thinking, increased engagement, and a true love of literature. Thank you for helping bring this mystery to life for my students. Let’s get everyone on board!
