Triple F Project: Fun, Fantastic and French!

My students need supplies such as laminating pouches, paper, and lapboards to create and play fun French games!

My Students

French immersion rocks! My students are in the French immersion program: they learn the second grade curriculum in French. My students don't come from France, their families don't speak French and most importantly: this program is open to everyone!

They spend half the day in my class, where French is the only allowed language!

With me, they learn math, science and literacy in French. They spend the other half of the day in the English class where they learn to read, write and spell in English.

They are incredibly fast learners and I am so proud to see their progress month after month. In first grade, they learn the basics (colors, numbers, days, months) but in second grade they are expected to say full sentences in French!

This program is a great opportunity for students to learn a new language, but also to discover a new culture!

My Project

My students love to play games! Games are fun and great: students are more engaged and they learn without even noticing. Since it is difficult for me to find French board games in the USA, I have been creating my own games to use in class. I create games for everything we learn and about the books we read. In order to make those games more durable, I need to get a lamination machine as well as laminating pouches and card stock paper.

Most of the games I make require a whiteboard or a Velcro board.

Those are very useful tools to model the instruction in front of the whole class. Blank dice will allow me to adapt the faces to any French instruction I come up with!

I have a lot of ideas for new games and I can't wait to get my supplies so I can get to work and see my students learn in a fun environment!
