Treasure Hunters

My students need a sensory table and equipment to develop an excitement for learning, while at the same time developing their fine motor skills.

My Students

Learning in my classroom takes place in many different ways. I have found that my students respond well to self discovery. They are in need of motivation and creativity. A sensory table can hold so many different types of treasures like: letters, numbers, dinosaur fossils, and much more.

My students are aged 4-6 and have very limited life experiences.

Many come to school hungry and in need of much more than learning. Our school has a high poverty rate and gang influenced neighborhoods. The students are capable children, who, with love and trust, will develop into lifelong learners. My students learn how to survive on the streets from their families. I strive to help them grow into learners who will set goals for themselves and find the success that they deserve.

My Project

A sensory table will insure that learning can be fun! Everyone loves to find treasures. As adults, we know that treasures can hold many adventures. My kindergarten students will use sensory materials likes beads, balls, noodles, sand, and water to search for upper and lower case letters, numbers, or rhyming words, and so much more. They will get to pretend they are on a dinosaur hunt digging through sand for bones or searching in the depths of the ocean to find hidden amazing animals. My students will get to go exploring within the walls of our safe school environment.

My Treasure Hunters project will bring the joy of learning to my classroom.

My students will get to experience hand-on learning for the first time. Since this is most of my children's first experience in school, I want it to be inviting, engaging and educational. A sensory table will do just that.
