My students need these VR headsets, Smartphones, and router to explore locations that are based in books that are read for thematic units. Various topics with grades K-8 with be covered throughout the year.
My students are amazing! They are very interested in anything in which they can create and explore! The VR kit will be a station in the library that enables them to learn more about the world while connecting them to locations that they read about.
My students range from K-8th grade and enjoy visiting the library to see what new activities they get to be involved with for the day!
We focus on topics that implement science, math, ELA, social studies, and the arts! The library is a place for my students to come and explore!
My Project
The virtual reality kit will allow students to travel on field trips to destinations all over the world. They can see what it would be like to travel to the rain forests in South America, visit Antarctica, and closely view wild animals. They can travel to locations that they read about in books while the VR kit will create a station in which they can explore.
Grades K-8 will be able to use the kit that has been donated, which will impact over six hundred students.
Most students don't have the ability to travel to these locations in real life. VR will allow students to understand globally the world around them and learn about what this world has to offer.
This VR kit is invaluable in aiding students interests in science and technology. It enhances the lesson and enables them to grasp content in a way that videos and pictures can not convey. The content that they learn with virtual reality will stay with them and they will be able to build upon their learned information. Students will use the VR kit as a station in the library. The station will be one of four that are set up to teach a lesson within a unit.
The VR kit materials requested include headsets (including ones that fit over glasses), a router, phones that fit inside of the headsets that deliver the exhibition, and charging strips for the phones. With these materials, the devices don't rely on another source of wifi, therefore they can be set up wherever needed as long as the router can be plugged in. These materials are imperative for the success of the project, if one piece is missing, nothing will work.
