Traveling the World through Books

My project needs 15 books to increase my classroom library and give 33 under-resourced students great reading material. Titles include: 'There's a Wocket in My Pocket!', 'Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What do You See?', and 'La telarana de Carlota'.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a new teacher at a low-income school in Denver Colorado. I teach bilingual first grade and currently have 33 students. My students are bright and extremely capable, despite having little resources at home. Most have just recently immigrated and have very few, if any, books. Being a first year teacher my classroom library is very small, and with such a large class, it is being spread very thin. I am passionate about books and reading and am trying to instill in my students a similar appreciation. I think the right book can spark a lifelong passion for reading and I am trying to fill my class with as many interesting and educational books as possible. You can help these students have access to the books that will make them not only fall in love with reading but also help make the start their educational experience a success.
