What a better way to engage students than to have a room transformation for each reading unit! Students are always so excited to see their classrooms transformed into something that is AMAZING but yet helps set the stage for their learning! Many of my students come from low income homes and have not had personal experiences outside of the classroom. This could help give them some fun while learning. Our school is adopting a new Science of Reading Curriculum called Wit and Wisdom. Our third grade curriculum has 4 main topics including The Sea, Outer Space, A New Home (immigration), and Artists Make Art. When I introduce each topic, I want a room transformation that gives the students a whole new, exciting learning experience that will also be engaging.
With the transformational classroom decor and hands on activities, I want my students to have unforgettable experiences while diving into new literature topics.
Through these exciting experiences, I want my students to be inspired to continue to learn about the topics they have learned. Hopefully, they will use the knowledge they have gained and push themselves to learn more in their future learning because they have had such an amazing experience within their classroom culture.
