My class needs more opportunities for movement in the classroom while learning. I am currently working on a professional development goal for this school year. I am reading the book called Teaching Through Movement. While reading this book, I want to be able to offer my students more ways to be active while learning. Kids, like adults, need to move in order to perform well. Did you know that adults need to move every 15 minutes in order to stay on task? Can you imagine what the timeline is for small kids? That is why our population of boys does not like school. They need to move their bodies in order to learn and work. With the support of wobble chairs, wobble cushions, and balance boards; my kids will be able to wiggle and still learn. I want to be able to offer my kids a variety of options in order to move their bodies but still be able to focus and learn. That is why I want to start by including wobble chairs, wobble cushions, and balance boards. Then, hopefully in the future, I can add more items to my classroom.
