My Students

My goal as an educator is for the students I teach to share a love for reading that I have gained over the years. I teach Guided Reading to an amazing group of second graders. These students work best and love reading when they can relate to the text at hand. Their discussions about the text blossom, when the students have past experiences to bring the conversation. I want to keep my students growing their love for ready each and every day.

My Project

My students each day learn reading, writing and math, but there is no curriculum to teach my students about all the places the world has to offer through Geography! I want to give my students an opportunity to learn about different places through a Geography unit in Guided Reading. This unit will teach my students about maps and continents. These books will lend itself to rigorous conversations, and writing opportunities my students need to keep growing as learners. My students are ready to stamp their passports during each Guided Reading lesson and visit a new location with the help of these books!
