Transform Our Remote Learning!

Help me give my students fun and engaging remote instruction with an iPad that will allow me to annotate in real time and enrich discussion and collaboration.

My Students

I teach in a hybrid learning environment; students receive instruction in person and remotely at home. My students are dispersed throughout the state. 3 days a week I teach remotely online through ZOOM. I teach K-3 students that struggle with reading. I have 10 students that I teach one on one 2 times a week. Then, I have about 40 students that I teach in small groups.

My students enjoy a hybrid learning environment of in-person and remote instruction with parent support at home.

I also meet with Gifted and Talented students in grades 3-6 remotely on ZOOM. We work together on a passion project that they choose. At the end of the year, each of the students will present their projects to each other remotely. These students are very driven and have a passion for learning.

With this hybrid learning environment, I work very closely with the parents. The parents are very involved in my students' education. During my ZOOM lessons, the parents often watch to learn techniques and ideas for helping their child. As a mother of 8 children myself, I can really connect and help them implement learning strategies for their children.

My Project

I have the privilege of teaching in many different learning environments and all ages of elementary students. I teach young (K-3) struggling readers and older (3-6) gifted and talented students. The majority of my teaching is remote, reaching students throughout the state. There are many challenges that need to be overcome when teaching remotely.

This iPad will revolutionize the way I deliver direct instruction.

There are many activities that I use when teaching my struggling readers in person that I have been hindered to use remotely. With an iPad, I will overcome this obstacle. When the students are reading, it's important for me to make markings to help them decode the words. When we work on irregular words, we mark the part of the word that can't be sounded out. I also do a chaining exercise where I only erase one letter and replace it with a different one. We also write spelling words. Being able to write directly on my prepared slides, will allow more interaction and connection.

With my Gifted and Talented students, an iPad will allow me to enrich our discussions and collaboration. I'll be able to write down their ideas, draw diagrams, and elevate the engagement. Your contribution to this project would have a huge impact on our remote learning.
