Training for the Trades

Help me give my students welding gloves and a drill for the opportunity to gain the skills needed to work within the trades. I have the students with the will to we just have to give them the training needed.

My Project

Our student population has traditionally, and still to this day, been very involved in the trades. Welding has always been very popular with our students.

We currently run a program where I teach Technical College level welding classes to our students, and if they start these programs before their sophomore year they have the opportunity to graduate high school already having a state-recognized Technical College diploma in Welding and Manufacturing.

This allows them to enter the workforce already trained and helps fill all the empty manufacturing positions we have in our district. It is no secret that places are having a hard time filling their open positions for welders. We have the students with the interest, will to work, and the drive to be successful in this area. With your help, this can be a win-win for our students, school district, and community.
