My Students

My students attend an urban California public school. They represent the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of our vibrant city. These middle school students arrive in my classroom with a wide range of skills and experiences, interests and abilities.

My students work hard every day to learn about themselves and the world around them.

They all have stories to tell, and our classroom becomes a safe haven where they begin to share their stories and imagine their place within our quickly changing world.

My Project

With Jason Reynold's Track series, students in our Students Run LA program will be able to read books about young runners like them. With marathon training and a full school schedule, our marathoners need one less thing to worry about: what to read?

These books provide an engaging group of characters to read about and discuss as our students train for their big race: a marathon.

With each book ending with a race and starting with another, these titles are perfect for our runners. They will learn to keep reading from the first page to the last and to find out how their own races will end!
