Deep in the heartland of Silicon Valley rests a beautiful campus full of happy energetic students who come to school each day eager to learn in a meaningful learning environment. The students at my school inspire me to create lessons and be an innovative teacher that will spark their imaginations, add to their life schema, and help prepare them for the world of the 21st century. I am proud to help students do their best...whether it is learning the language, picking up comprehension skills that will enhance the reading experience, solving rigorous math problems, expressing themselves through the arts, experimenting to challenge an idea, or having fun throughout the experience.
My Project
I want my students to keep the momentum of the rigorous year of reading instruction going over the summer. Often times, students loose months of what they learned during the year over the summer break...because they don't have a chance to balance rest and relaxation with work that is meaningful.
It would be awesome to give my hard working English Language Learners as well as the struggling readers an opportunity to read "At Level" books in a fun and creative way this summer.
The Tournament style assignments give students a chance to read books, write book reviews, create book reports, and even film a video book review. Reading over the summer will help transition my second graders into third in a fun and challenging way.
