This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a public school that isn't quite Title I, but has needs all the same. We are a global school that seeks to help our students learn more about the world around us. We even have Participate Teachers, international teachers who come from all over the world to teach students Spanish. The students are vibrant and curious about the world and deserve the best education possible. The students, staff, families, and communities are dedicated to this cause, but we need your help.
My Project
Students often struggle with determining the volume of a 3D figure because it is copied onto a flat sheet of paper and students can't really visualize all of the dimensions. Giving students opportunities to touch, build, and measure figures creates a bridge for learning volume; these material will help me accomplish that.
My students will use the snap cube blocks and volume centers to begin their exploration of what exactly is volume.
The snap cube blocks and peel-on-blocks will be used to give students further opportunities to apply their learning and make it personal to them. I would like students to create 3D figures given certain criteria as well as determine the volume of figures that their peers have designed.
