Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are high poverty. Most of them live in housing projects. These children are full of personality and while they may have some behavior issues they will pull your heart out because they are so in need of love and security. Many live in toxic stress environments where they do not know where they will sleep night after night. Many awaken to gunshots on a regular basis. Some don't have access to laundry facilities or the money to use them, so they often wear dirty clothes.

These kids deserve a chance even if life hasn't provided many opportunities.

Most of my students have never left the area in which they live. Unless the experience is provided by the school, they don't leave their housing project.

My Project

Most of my students do not have technology in their homes. I need for their experience at school to be top notch. In order for this to happen, I need to provide quality headphones and flash drives. I have chosen quality products, but at affordable prices.

This project will fund a class set of headphones and flash drives.

This will enable them to save their work and be able to listen to recordings of my teaching for review or in case they missed the lesson.

Also having their own headphones will eliminate distractions of others listening to different videos and allow me to work with small groups of students while at the same time keeping other students engaged.
