Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have spent 5 of my past 6 years in education working with middle school students. I have a special affinity for teaching this grade level because they have such a small window to acquire the tools they will need to be successful in high school. My students are typically from lower income families where there are bigger issues than school supplies.
"I believe that when you do what you love you find higher levels of satisfaction that can compensate for lower income." This is a quote that I found online, but I believe it encompasses my beliefs and passion for this project.
My students are not entitled or privileged, they are simply trying to navigate their way through a society that already looks down upon them. But in the end, they are children who need and deserve my attention and care. Please allow me the opportunity to provide them with a path towards success!
My Project
The use of technology along with basic supplies is an important part of the daily activities in my classroom, especially when using the Transmath program. As a first year teacher, I am in the unenviable position of building my classroom environment from the ground up. As an RSP/Strategies teacher, it is my job to use the Transmath program to bring my students closer to grade level before the rigors of the high school curriculum they will soon face. I have a very limited school budget to attain the necessary supplies my students will need to successfully navigate this program. We will use composition books to build our Transmath notebooks while also using technology during lessons. Tools such as rulers, glue, glue sticks, and scissors will be used daily. The electronic supplies I am requesting will allow me to deliver my lessons both efficiently and effectively while providing my students with the tools that will bring them closer to success. Having tools such as good speakers, a presentation remote, and a new mouse will allow me to teach my students effectively
