My Project

Many of my students enter 2nd grade 1-1 1/2 years behind reading level. These students are working hard to become fluent readers by the end of second grade. Students need extra support to help their work even when not in small group instruction.

Whisper phones and word trackers help students hear their reading and track where they are on the page, helping them focus on decoding words.

These whisper phones will be used both during small group instruction and during independent reading to help support students who are still decoding texts and stretching words.

Word pointers will be provided to students who would like some assistance in tracking their reading to help them focus on sounding out rather then tracking their page.

The touch read wipe cards will help bridge the work by students are doing with decoding and encoding. Building both their reading and writing skills.
