My students work at table groups in our classroom to help promote community learning and cooperation. Students use their supplies daily to help promote their learning. Unlike traditional desks which include storage, table groups provide no additional storage for students and their belongings. This year especially it is important for students to have their own space to store and keep safe their classroom belongings. By providing chair pockets students are given a storage space of their own that allows them to have their most commonly used items right with them rather than across the room. Seat pockets not only provide students a sense of ownership over their belongings they assist students in developing organization skills as they are required to keep their pockets clean and ready for use each day.
