This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at our school are truly the best! As a Title I school we are working to get students to master their grade level standards on a budget. Our school recently went from a two-star school to a four-star school, which means big budget cuts!

Working in a Title I school means working with 100% of students living well below the poverty line.

Students daily use white boards in all academic areas including math, reading, and writing. We go through dry erase markers extremely fast and I am having a tough time keeping them in stock. We also use highlighters to site text evidence while doing close reading. Close reading involves students digging deep in the text and color color coding their text.

What makes my students special is their eagerness and desire to learn. I would describe the staff and students at My school as a family outside a family. We all collaborate to make our students' education the best it can possibly be by going above and beyond so that they can be successful and ready for 3rd grade!

My Project

Students daily use dry erase markers with their individual white boards during math,reading, science, writing and partner projects. These markers are always in demand. They will use highlighters to cite text evidence in their Scholastic non-fiction magazines. These supplies are essential to their everyday academic practice. This year we did not have enough money to afford the Scholastic News. They need these magazines to understand current events and learn to love reading through exposure to interesting texts. The dry erase board cleaner will help them keep their whiteboards tidy and ready for daily reviews and math practice. These supplies will make learning fun and exciting!
