Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work for a Title 1 school. Our students come from all ranges of socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school offers free breakfast and lunch to all of our students due to the huge need. Some kids aren't able to buy all of their supplies. I, like many other educators in the building, are working with a very strict budget and while we would love to provide our students with all the things they deserve and need to nurture their creativity, it is hard. This is especially true when we do not have the financial resources that other schools have. Donors help bring smiles to my students' faces every day through the donations made and the materials purchased through DonorsChoose.org.
My Project
My students need tools that will help assist their learning in math and reading. A lot of time students just need the right tools to complete self checks. The materials I have requested are tools that will allow students to work individually, in partners or small groups to check their understanding of content learned in class.
Students want to make sure they’re right, these resources will help them complete self checks and help in relearning the content taught in class.
These resources are fun and engaging ways to work on the things we go over in class during whole group. Kids learn a lot from other kids and these materials will help kids talk through some of the questions and objects included. This will help not only their math and reading skills but also their discussion and speaking skills.
