This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be, and he will become as he can and should be." My students are curious and eager to learn. I want them to become what I know they can and will be...successful!
I am a first-grade teacher in a high poverty school.
We are a Title I school and also participate in the free and reduced rate lunch program. All of our students are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch each school day.
My Project
Small group instruction is of vital importance to developing my students' early literacy skills. During small group instruction, students are grouped based on areas of need and lessons are catered to each group of students to ensure that all students are receiving the instruction they need and deserve. One resource I utilize during small group instruction is the West Virginia Phonics program. This free series includes comprehensive plans for small group instruction and is an amazing resource.
The resources and tools included in this kit will improve small group literacy instruction in my classroom.
The kit is designed to be used with the West Virginia Phonics lessons and will provide another excellent resource for me as a teacher to help me ensure that my students succeed.
