Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In my classroom, we foster a warm, engaging environment where the needs of each individual student is met and the whole student is physically, mentally, and emotionally supported. My students are creative, thoughtful, hard workers with their own learning styles and goals, who come to school each day willing to learn. They are special needs children from all cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds who truly want an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district but have many obstacles to overcome. Many of these students do not have the means to access the resources they need to be successful both in and out of the classroom. My group is truly amazing and I am blessed to work with them. They deserve the best resources available to maximize their success and put them on the road to a bright future.
My Project
The item I am requesting is a tool that will be an integral part of the learning process for my special education students. Each day, I teach my students the skills they need to be better readers, writers, and mathematicians.
In order for them to be successful, it is extremely important that they receive explicit modeling and instruction.
By using a document camera in my classroom, I will be able to project all lessons and expectations on our whiteboard. I intend to use it for whole class lessons so students can follow along with me in a step by step process that will best meet their learning needs. I will be able to deliver clear, transparent expectations, model behavior and procedures, and make efficient use of time and resources.
