Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
More than 50% of our students come from low-income households, so many times parents cannot afford to provide all the resources their children need to be successful in school. Getting these classroom supplies funded will give parents a reprieve form additional expenses per semester and will also give my students the much-needed supplies that is necessary to complete portfolios, projects, performance tasks and other assignments.
I try to give my students the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in multiple ways, not just with reading and writing but with performance-based tasks.
They are multilingual learners who are encouraged to demonstrate proficiency using tasks that show their creative and innovative skills. My students are very talented and creative in their own way, so they will be very happy to top up with additional supplies that will help them in expressing their ideas.
