Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are bright and curious young learners who come to school each day trying to do their best. They attend a Title I school. About half of the students in my school are in the process of learning a second language, and many came to this country recently as refugees. These students are not only learning a new language but also trying to adjust to life in a new country and recover from the trauma they faced.

As a teacher in a low-income, high-poverty, and refugee school with a lot of English language learners, I see my students face challenges both in and out of the classroom.

Despite the many challenges my students face, challenges that make it more difficult for them to get a good education, they come ready to learn and do their best.

As a 4th grade teacher, I have over seven languages in my class, as well as many different social, emotional, and physical needs; I try my best to give every student everything possible to be successful and learn!

My Project

Our students are living in a time of uncertainty and ever-changing information. As a teacher, I work to make sure that students know with certainty that when they come into the classroom they have everything they need in order to be successful and that the classroom is a safe and welcoming place to be.

All of these supplies and tools will help students have the best experience in school and be successful.

I am asking for a classroom rug to allow a welcoming place to do our daily morning meeting. The books are to help students make up for the time loss during school closures and student quarantines over the past two years. I am also asking for supplies to help students be as successful as possible including the whiteboards, expo markers, and headphones.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
