My Students

My students are special because they come from low-income families. Many of my students come from single parent families and some are homeless. This makes them special because they have a unique perspective on life, the community, relationships, and education.

Building a community in the classroom is important to these students because this is their safe space.

With a school demographic of 98% Black and Asian, my students often lack the support and opportunities that lead to success both in and out of school.

My Project

My scholars use interactive notebooks on a daily basis. We have run out of glue sticks. Without the glue sticks scholars will not be able to continue using interactive notebooks which help create a hands on and engaging learning experience.

Scholars learn better and are more engaged when they are able to practice in a variety of ways!

My scholars also use personal dry erase boards to interact during math lessons and to practice their math facts and skills. Markers have dried out over the year and these scholars are not able to get the interactive experience of using a dry erase board due to a limited amount of back up supplies.
