Help me give my students durable headphones that can be wiped down after each use so that all students can use them, computer keyboards for all 30 lab desktop computers and flash drives to save their work.

My Students

My students are middle school grades 6-8, who are culturally diverse, curious, ready to explore, and at an age where they are growing and coming into themselves. All are inner city kids, some of which have experienced a great deal of trauma in their young lives. Once you have built a relationship with them and trust is earned, they will work with you and work for you because they don’t want to let you down. They are full of life and energy.

The majority of my students have become very interested in STEM subjects.

Initially they had no idea that they were interested in programming, design and modeling, or robotics until I introduced it to them. They learned to love group and partner projects because they were able to build and make things with their own hands.

My students love being in school all the time and express to me that they don’t like having more than a three-day weekend because they miss their teachers and friends. In my eyes, my students are the most fabulous, funny, loving, and entertaining young people, and learning is a two-way street, as they teach me something new almost every day.

My Project

Durable headphones that are easy to wipe down are needed in the lab because students need to watch and listen to tutorials and videos that assist them in learning.

Flash drives are needed, as many students cannot afford to purchase them on their own.

Student work cannot be stored on lab computers, as they are reimaged and students can lose their work.

The school does not have the budget to purchase 30 keyboards. Keyboards are needed as current keyboards are missing buttons and or they have shortages in the cords.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
