My Second Graders are from a high-poverty neighborhood and attend a culturally diverse school that is 100% free lunch. Even though they have challenges that come with poverty they always come to school ready to learn.
This class gives everything they have to their lessons, no matter what is going outside of school.
They work hard to develop the habits they need to be successful throughout their school lives. Their eagerness to learn is commendable. I am so proud of the work they put in and am eager to see them soar throughout the school year.
I am a first year teacher at an elementary school and I am in need of a bookcase to expand our classroom library with some great fiction, nonfiction, and informational texts. When students have a variety of texts to read it not only expands their minds but aids in their love for reading.
The next item my classroom is in need of is a mailbox.
Having a mailbox in the classroom will allow each student to have their own space to keep important paperwork to take home each day. By using mailboxes students will be able to stay organized and keep their paperwork safe.
The last item my classroom needs is a timer. The timer will help during centers and when students are given a certain amount of time to do or work on a project. This will allow them to be mindful of expectations and to stay focused.
