My Project

My students are an amazing group of excited learners that are always ready to see what they will learn next no matter their ability. I have a diverse classroom of kids from different social backgrounds, various economic backgrounds, and kids that have their own individual style of learning. They come from single-parent homes, some may be raised by their grandparents, or they come from a home where the parents may be divorced.

It is important to give students the opportunity to experience meaningful hands-on instruction.

Every classroom should have a hands-on approach when teaching math. Building math fluency is especially important. Having manipulatives will increase academic achievement in my students. When the 2nd graders are working manipulatives and playing games, they are able to add and subtract with fluency. Mental math builds

Math is part of everyday life and that is why it is important to offer kids hands-on practice.

Students often work in small groups, and they work independently in a self-directed workstation to reinforce math skills. This doesn't mean it has to be a pencil and paper each time. They need something engaging and fun to do without taking away from their learning.
