This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every year, I spend time preparing anchor charts that my students use as a reference throughout the year. In addition, they used mini-reference charts for math and ELA(English Language Arts). We refer to them as their 'tools in their toolboxes', to be pulled out when they need them. One of our 'tools' is a whiteboard. We do a lot of math work on the whiteboards.

What I love about my class this year, is that every time we are working in ELA or math, they blurt out, "What 'tools' are we using today?

I love how engaged they are when they are working, whether it's with whiteboards, using the reference charts, or reading novels. My school consists of approximately 580 students, where the majority receive free and reduced lunch and are considered economically disadvantaged.

My Project

The donation of a classroom laminating machine will improve my classroom by allowing my students to keep graphic organizers, charts, and reference sheets in better condition so they last throughout the school year. These materials usually need to be replaced because they get torn, bent, or faded.

A classroom laminating machine would make it much easier to use graphic organizers and charts thus allowing students to reuse them.

This would cut down on the amount of paper wasted by making photocopies. My students will be eager to use these laminated materials and will place more importance on them.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
