This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in the southeast part of town where criminal activities and homelessness are present in the eyes of my young scholars. Most of my students come from homes where both parent speaks limited English. My students come from low-income household where only one parent is working.

With all the challenges of online learning this past year, my students are excited to be back in the classroom.

I can sense their nervousness on the first day of school and at the same time how thrill they are to be back in person. I sense the joy they find in learning everything from reading, writing, math, and even conversations among their classmates.

My Project

The use of dry erase whiteboard is a tool that my students use on a daily basis in my third grade class. They use it for spelling activities, drawing, and especially during Math for a quick response. However, the individual whiteboards that they have is for one person only. It is a challenge when I put them in groups to solve a problem using their whiteboards. There just isn't enough space for them to show their work and be able to share with the class.

By donating to my project, my students will have the opportunity to use the right tool to collaborate in groups.

This can make all the difference. The benefits of using the whiteboard will enhance their social and emotional learning and engagements. This includes teamwork, cooperation, and communication to achieve a goal. In addition, being able to present it on something large enough for the class to see is a bonus. The large space will give plenty of room for my students to solve word problems and or write a response to a writing prompt.
